Lace up your (and your kids’) skates and get out on the ice. You might even meet some of the Barrie Colts players if you keep your eyes peeled for their special appearances. Don’t forget that skating is also (always) free at City Hall’s Circle at the Centre (10:00am-10:00pm) as well as the other City of Barrie outdoor rinks including Eastview Park, Lampman Lane Park, Centennial Beach, and Shear Park.

The MacLaren Art Centre has fun family art-making workshops planned for Family Day this year! Take a tour of the museum at 1:00pm and view all of the amazing exhibitions (don’t miss the snow sculptured walnut!), enjoy the food, drinks, and yummy treats at the Radio Café, and then join in on the fun of arts and crafts from 1:30-3:00pm to create a beautiful masterpiece.

If you and your family are frequent golfers, we’re sure you miss the feel of swinging your club and the sound of it hitting a golf ball. Well, you’re in luck this Family Day! Head to The Barrie Sports Dome and hit a bucket of balls on the “driving range” with your family (you can share the cost by taking turns hitting the ball). Consider teaching your young kids how to golf, too. You can start by trying Putt Mini Golf (glow-in-the-dark!) located in the south end of Barrie.

Does your family love challenges and exploring the outdoors? Simcoe County Museum is back with the 7th annual Family Day Extravaganza. Get ready to compete in their wide-range of activities (or to participate at your own pace). A snowshoe challenge, a toboggan competition, and a game of Snowsnake, originally a First Nations’ tradition, are just three of the great activities that you can do this Family Day at the Simcoe County Museum. Lunch and snacks are available for purchase.
